How LeaseLens handles your data
Your lease is a confidential document. This page explains exactly what happens to it from the moment you upload it to the moment your report arrives.
Short version: upload, pay, review emailed. The text of your lease is sent to our AI provider for analysis, your file is not kept after the report is generated, and nothing is used for AI training.
Effective date: October 21, 2026
The short answer
What happens to your document, step by step
You upload your PDF over HTTPS and can type questions and changes you've already made. The PDF is parsed in server memory to extract its text. If the PDF is a scan, it may be sent to LeaseLens's own OCR server to extract the text.
Stripe handles the payment on their servers. Your card number never reaches LeaseLens. The review runs after payment.
The extracted text (not the original file) and your typed notes are sent to our AI provider's API for analysis. Under its commercial API terms, inputs are not used to train models and are retained only for a limited period (currently up to 30 days) before deletion.
The review and the "Requested lease changes" PDF are emailed to you through Resend. LeaseLens keeps a copy of the two PDFs (not your lease) by email, so we can answer your questions and honor the free-rerun guarantee.
LeaseLens does not keep your uploaded file after the report is generated. One exception: if the automated review fails, your lease is emailed to the LeaseLens team so the report can be completed manually.
Third-party services we use
LeaseLens is built on a small set of infrastructure services. Here is what each one receives:
Common questions
No. The PDF is parsed in memory to extract its text and is not kept after your report is generated. The one exception: if the automated review fails, your lease is emailed to the LeaseLens team so we can complete your report manually.
No. LeaseLens uses a commercial AI API. Under its commercial terms, inputs are not used to train models and are retained only for a limited period (currently up to 30 days) before deletion. LeaseLens does not have a zero-data-retention agreement.
The text from your lease is sent to our AI provider to generate your report, and your review is emailed to you. LeaseLens staff see your lease only if the automated review fails and it is sent to us to complete manually, or if you email us about your report.
LeaseLens is designed for commercial leases, but the same data handling applies to any document you upload. We recommend reviewing your confidentiality obligations before uploading any document covered by a confidentiality agreement.
Your email address (to deliver your report); your payment, which Stripe processes (we never see your card number); your first name, if you request the free checklist; for brokers in the partner program, your name, email and the payout details you give us (Venmo, PayPal or ACH); and site analytics and cookie data collected by PostHog and Google Analytics.
No. The site does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals. You can block analytics cookies and scripts with standard browser privacy or ad-block settings, and the service still works.
Some documents include text written to steer an AI review. LeaseLens treats the lease as data, never as instructions: if it finds such text, the report quotes it word for word in a warning at the top and reviews the lease honestly anyway.
Ready to review your lease?
